Coffee and cupcakes - oh my!

So much has happened over the past few months since we opened our pop-up shop at the Berwyn Shops. Read on to find out about all that has been happening in the shop and behind the scenes!
Since opening in June, The Vulgar Vegan has been busy baking up all sorts of goodies. In July, we baked more than 1,200 cupcakes, including 100 mini cupcakes for a bridal shower. Some weekends we had lines out the door. In August, The Vulgar Vegan competed in Ingredion's Plant Based Protein Cook Off Competition at The Hatchery, 135 N. Kedzie in Chicago, and placed fourth, competing against catering companies and those with backgrounds in food science. The Vulgar Vegan's entry included BBQ No Meat on These Ribz, BBQ Mac 'n (No)Cheeze, Kale'n It Slaw and the Life's a Peach grilled peach cupcake. Judges praised The Vulgar Vegan's Kick-ass BBQ entry and said the No Meat on These Ribz tasted like "braised ribs." This was The Vulgar Vegan team's first-ever cook-off competition and first trophy!
The Vulgar Vegan also received its first international order in August! A customer from overseas ordered birthday cupcakes that were delivered by The Vulgar Vegan's HBIC herself to a local address. We also baked a custom cake that was served to vegan guests at a wedding - the first custom cake order to be picked up from the shop! And each weekend since opening, The Vulgar Vegan has regularly sold out of popular flavors such as the Breakfast at Tiffany's and Campfire - usually by mid-afternoon on a Saturday.
If you haven't visited the shop in a while, we've added some exciting new products - including a selection of sassy vintage kitchen towels that make the perfect gift! New to the shop also are the Wake the F*ck Up coffee flights, a sampling of all five of our signature flavors so you can enjoy them all. We also recently launched two new limited-edition seasonal coffees - Witches Brew, our signature pumpkin spice coffee that smells so heavenly, and Sin City, a cinnamon hazelnut delight that pairs well with any of our cupcakes! Our seasonal coffees are available now on our website and will be at the shop soon. But they won't be available for long so be sure to get yours before they disappear!
Find us at the Berwyn Shops, 6931 Roosevelt Road, from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Be sure to drop a few choice curse words in our shop and contribute to our Cussing for a Cause swear jar - this month's donations will be going to BEDS Plus Care, a cause near and dear to The Vulgar Vegan HBIC's heart.
